Let's go to the future!!!!

The year is 2041 and the Florida Panthers have won 29 consecutive Stanley Cups. Andy is one happy guy and wakes up on a beautiful Saturday morning from his technological slumber. During the sleep stage, a brain chip is activated that gives you the ability to control every aspect of your dreams and automatically records your dreams to a holographic hard drive for your friends to enjoy. Andy has just returned from a grueling hockey fight where he knocked out Steve MacIntyre and Brian McGrattan in the matter of 30 seconds. Although this would never happen in reality, his dreams suit him well enough.

As Andy emerges from his gelatin massage mattress, he claps three times, illuminating an image on the wall in front of him. After a few keys are pressed, a gust of wind blows and he is simultaneously dressed in any outfit that is in his invisibly condensed wardrobe. Andy walks out of his room and his morning hygiene routine is automatically completed as he walks through the door frame. He walks into his kitchen and is greeted by a group of servers. Andy recently gave in to his life dream and converted his kitchen to a full size Cracker Barrel. After he finishes his Grandpa's Country Breakfast, Andy heads out to the massive underground parking lot, also known as his garage. Today's choice is the recently upgraded Pagani Zonda R that was personally customized by Andy himself. A few of the additions include weapons of mass destruction and the abilities to fly, dive, and vanish into thin air. He hops in his car and peels out of his transparent driveway, which reveals an image of his underground ice hockey rink. As Andy drives to school, he thinks about his day ahead at FGCU.

Andy has followed in his father's footsteps and is currently on a 35 year plan. He pulls into the valet drive-thru in front of the newly revamped Student Union and hands his prized possession over to Mitch Brown, a new valet who still drives his 1994 Honda Accord, yet plays left wing on Alex Ovechkin's line. The world may never know Mitch's reasoning, but Andy walks to class either way. After a quick stop at Subway, he runs to Mrs. V's room and is absolutely ecstatic for the planned activities. After class, Andy goes to the library, which has been outfitted with a transportation device. He travels to Mexico for chips and salsa, then Japan for a nice Hibachi lunch.

As night approaches, Andy heads on over to the Bank Atlantic Center. He is the General Manager for the Florida Panthers and they have a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a few hours. After a decisive 6-0 victory, Andy gives a call to his valet driver, Mitch. They speed on over to Daytona for the Nationwide race and a night of fun. They see Jack Shack, who was recently named the President of the United States and Jared from Subway. Mrs. V even comes to the race and they all have a grand time.

In the morning, Andy walks into one of the infield bathrooms. He turns on the sink and receives a handful of Skittles, which is a norm in the United States after the Candy Act passed in 2036. The taste of the rainbow on his tongue makes him light up like a child. He enjoys his snack and then jumps into Lake Lloyd to try out the new gills he had surgically installed last month. They work like a charm. Suddenly, Andy accidentally touches a downed power line in the lake due to the previous night's festivities and dies suddenly. Mitch mourns for eternity and they bury Andy in a grave of his most favorite things in the world: Cracker Barrel biscuits. The end.

Food Advertisements

The picture above shows a page from the McDonald's home website. This isn't necessarily an advertisement, but it paints a pretty clear picture. As you can see, a woman is enjoying a salad from Mcdonald's and the picture is located under the "Eat Smart" tab. This is where the entire comprehension is scewed. Are McDonald's salads really healthy as they are advertised? Is eating a salad from McDonald's healthy and beneficial to my body? These are all questions people have about the food, but we have grown up in a world driven by marketing. For this reason, the average person doesn't dig in to unveil the truth and see what is truly hidden behind the happy, "all is good" advertisements that are forced down our throats. Because of this, the fast food companies win. Mcdonald's salads aren't healthy. If you take a look at the nutrition facts, which many of us don't, you will find that they are VERY unhealthy. This is why the entire industry is but a joke. They sugar coat everything to make it appealing to the eye and lie to us day in and day out to make us believe that the food they serve is actually beneficial. In conclusion, the industry has brainwashed the majority of the human race and it has worked tremendously. They will never stop this act, which leads us to our only hope; our own knowledge.

My Ecological Footprint

After completing the footprint activity, I found that it would take 6.2 Planet Earths if everyone lived as I do. I also discovered that it takes 27.6 global acres to support my lifestyle. That's pretty shocking if you ask me. This activity really sheds light on the impact we all have on the Earth and shows that we have to start living more responsibly.

The two largest portions of my ecological footprint fall in the categories of services and food. I feel that I could reduce my personal impact on the foods I eat. I will try to eat better and maybe even shop at local markets for goods. I will also try to waste less and use reusable bottles to reduce my impact on the environment. I would really like to decrease the amount of resources I use and will make it a staple in my lifestyle to change my ways.

My Introduction

Hey, my name is Andy Amstutz. I was born in a small township called Bainbridge, about 45 minutes outside of Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to Naples, Florida 10 years ago and chose Florida Gulf Coast University because of the location and the fact that the hockey arena is a mile away. I have a younger sister, Andrea, and two dogs, Diesel and Skittle. I love hockey and am a huge Florida Panthers and Florida Everblades fan. I’ve been playing around 10 years now and have received an opportunity to be the video coach for the Florida Everblades, which is very exciting, since I desire to work in the National Hockey League for the Florida Panthers. I am also an avid NASCAR fan and go to both the Daytona 500 and the Coke Zero 400 with my family and friends. We drive our RVs up and stay on the infield, which is a party in itself. My favorite driver is Matt Kenseth and I believe Toyota should be removed from NASCAR. On another note, I play two instruments: The Dobro and drums. The Dobro is a resophonic guitar, for anyone who was wondering, which is played on your lap with 3 finger picks and a steel slide. It’s used a lot in Bluegrass, which is why I enjoy playing it. Other than Bluegrass, I love Country, but listen to pretty much anything other than Rap, although Eminem is an exception. Even though Bluegrass and Country are my main choices, you will occasionally hear me listening to Metal, which is why I play the drums. In other news, I love the mountains. North Carolina and Tennessee are my two favorite states to visit and I want to walk the entire Appalachian Trail one day. Hiking in the mountains is one of my favorite activities and I was going to attend Western Carolina University, but remained in the flat lands of Florida to pursue my hockey dreams. The Appalachian Mountain atmosphere is the spark that ignited my adoration of Bluegrass and has really had an impact on my life, believe it or not. It’s a fantastic spot to visit and I’ll move there eventually. Well, I hope you enjoyed my short introduction and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
